Hundreds of millions of tons of cargo throughput by ports in the first 4 months of 2022

U&I Logistics - In the past 4 months, the volume of goods through the seaport reached about 8 million TEUs, up 2%, imported goods had the highest growth rate with more than 2.8 million TEUs, up 8% over the same period last year. According to Vietnam Maritime Administration, in the first 4 months of 2022, the total volume of container cargo going through seaports is estimated at more than 236 million tons, up 3% over the same period in 2021; In which, domestic cargo throughput increased the most with nearly 99 million tons, up 10%.

Regarding the volume of container cargo, in 4 months, cargo throughput via seaports reached about 8 million TEUs, up 2%. Imported goods had the highest growth rate with more than 2.8 million TEUs, up 8% over the same period last year.

“In April 2022, cargo throughput via seaports is estimated at 59 million tons, up 3%. Container goods are estimated at about 2 million TEUs, up 2% over the same period in 2020, the Maritime Administration informed. Previously, statistics from the Maritime Administration showed that a number of seaport regions had an increase in the volume of goods cleared, such as Quang Ninh area increased by 11%, Quang Nam area increased by 19%, Dong Nai area increased by 8%, Thanh Hoa area increased by 6% (from 9.5 million tons to 10.1 million tons).

Some seaport regions saw a sharp decrease in cargo volume such as Binh Thuan down 13%, Can Tho down 12%, Nghe An down 7%, Ha Tinh down 4%. Large seaports as Vung Tau also recorded a slight decrease of 3%.

According to Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company, before the unstable world economic situation disrupted the supply chain and put pressure on the global economy, the volume of goods via Hai Phong Port in April recorded a slight decrease. compared with the previous month.

The volume of domestic containers and import-export containers decreased, of which domestic containers reached 13,365 TEUs, import and export containers reached 90,078 TEUs. However, for non-containerised cargo, which are mainly concentrated at Hoang Dieu Port Company Limited (Hai Phong Port) with favorable weather conditions. Most sold products such as imported iron and steel, equipment, timber, and bales... all tend to grow. The total output of Hai Phong Port reached 645,000 tons, up 13.6% compared to March 2022.

Notably in April, Hoang Dieu Port One Member Limited Liability Company welcomed and operated 2 large ships with an output of over 50,000 tons and cooperated with Chua Ve Port Branch and Tan Vu Port Branch to operate 7 ships with an output of over 41,000 ton.

With flexible work solutions, production management and reasonable cost reduction, the production and business targets of Hai Phong Port in April 2022 are basically ensuring the proposed plan. Cargo throughput through the port reached 94.2% of the plan; revenue reached 96.3% (in which revenue from port operation reached 96.2%); The whole port welcomes and operates 151 ships, including 66 container ships. A sign of prosperity in the month is the event that Hai Phong Port welcomes the 4th line of COSCO - the biggest shipping company in China and the 4th in the world, operating at Tan Vu Port Branch.
