The Government approves power bill cut for 3 business groups affected by COVID-19

(Chinhphu.vn) – The Government has just issued Resolution No. 97/NQ-CP dated August 28, 2021, approving to cut power bill (phase 5) for enterprises affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The Government has just issued Resolution No. 97/NQ-CP dated August 28, 2021, approving to cut power bill (phase 5) for enterprises affected by the COVID-19 epidemic as proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The Government assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to actively coordinate with the Ministry of Finance and relevant agencies to organize the implementation in accordance with the order, procedures and legal regulations to ensure the rigor, correctness, prevent profiteering and take full responsibility for the content, data reported and recommendations.

Currently, the COVID-19 pandemic is continuing to deteriorate in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and many southern provinces and cities on a large scale, affecting the economic and social development of the country.

Following the direction of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to cut power bill for enterprises processing and preserving seafood and vegetables, and enterprises producing export goods with an export turnover of over 1 billion USD in 2020 but are currently facing many difficulties due to having factories or production bases located in provinces and cities implementing social distancing according to Directive No. 16/CT-TTg.

In details, supporting electricity bills reduction subjects meet the following conditions:

- Power consumers: are factories or production plants located in provinces and centrally-run cities as of 25 August 2021, which are implementing social distancing in accordance with Directive No. 16/CT-TTg of the PM and is maintaining production in the following areas: (i) Seafood and seafood products processing and preserving enterprises; (ii) Vegetable processing and preserving enterprises; (iii) Export manufacturing enterprises with 2020 export turnover of more than 1 billion USD.

- Customers who are buying power energy directly from EVN’s Corporation/Company or other power retailers.

The electricity tariff discount level: 10% discount (before tax) on electricity bills for customers above.

The electricity bills discount time: for power customers in item 1 is 03 months in invoicing time from September to the end of November 2021.

According to EVN estimates, in the 5th phase, the amount of support to reduce electricity prices for customers is about 650 billion VND (excluding VAT).

List of factories and production facilities eligible for electricity bill reduction is certified by the People's Committees of the provinces on the basis of business registration and actual production of enterprises in the area and provided to power units.

Other electricity tariff and electricity bills reduction subjects: continue to comply with the provisions of Resolution No. 55/NQ-CP dated 2 June 2021 and Resolution No. 83/NQ-CP dated 31 July 2021 by the Government.
